"Distorted Grace" is an incredibly unique piece, created by Pat & Karen Miller, a local husband/wife artist team. The cherrywood came from an old orchard full of big trees near Naches. The vessel was turned on a wood lathe while still green and allowed to dry. The orientation of the green wood in the initial working stage allows the experienced artist some control over the final shape. Cylindrical to begin with, this piece is now 2" wider than it is deep, although very symmetrical. The top is turned and carved from a block of African Blackwood, an expensive and limited hardwood from Central Africa. A small spire from free range brass, also turned on the lathe, adds contrast and interest.
All proceeds from this piece are earmarked for our Enrichment Fund.
